Developed in 1929. The first Japanese tank with a diesel engine, which served as the main tank in the early 1930s. By the beginning of World War II, the design of the vehicle was already obsolete. Nonetheless, it was widely used until the end of the war. Vehicles of this type last saw action in 1944 in the Philippines.
